Ghost Train KLS Member Information

Greetings all,

Planning is underway for the 2017 "Ghost Train" run which is scheduled for 28 October 2017.  There will be a mandatory all member briefing at 1600 (4pm), the run will commence at 1700 (5pm) with plans to end at 2100 (9 pm).  This is a high profile run with lots of publicity for KLS and routinely draws an extremely big crowd of riders. In addition, it is the only night run that KLS operates. With ticket sales fixed at 1300 riders for the four hour period of the run, the pace will be intense and will require a lot of help. I would like to have key positions assigned so that we can better prepare and plan for the event.

We plan on putting 8 locomotives on the line with each pulling 2 astride cars. We will need engineers and conductors for those locomotives.  If you are planning on running your personal locomotive for this event please contact me and let me know.  I also need to know if you have a conductor, and if you will be bringing your own astride cars. We will also try to have at least one locomotive in reserve and will need to crew that as well.

We will need a crew to run the Depot: I have a couple of volunteers for this area but can always use more so if you are interested please let me know as soon as possible.

We will also employ a Crash Crew of 4 people who will be in a standby status with equipment pre-staged to handle derailments, mechanical problems and other issues that may arise. Again, let me know if you are interested in being a member of this very important group.

This is a super fun event and a great opportunity for KLS to work with and have a positive impact on the public. So, please, come on out and help. Let’s make the 2017 edition of the "Ghost Train" the greatest ever!

Thanks,

Don Rogers
